Collaboration and mentorship are central to Emelia’s work. Between 2021 and 2025, she supervised about 30 students, including 17 high school and 13 undergraduate students, through her work in the Adler lab at UMass Amherst. See below for a list of students who have carried out their independent research under Emelia's mentorship, and browse through the gallery for team photos!
Max, formerly a high school student in the UMass Amherst Pre-College program, was mentored by Emelia in summer 2024. His research explored how contact between bees and the location of pathogens on plant parts affects pathogen acquisition in bumblebees. Max is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Texas, Austin.
Sunny, formerly a high school student in the UMass Amherst Pre-College program, was mentored by Emelia in summer 2022. She conducted an independent project investigating how the frequency of bee visitation influences deposition patterns across different floral structures. Sunny is currently pursuing her undergraduate studies at Cornell University.
